•TOP WEST DIVISION TEAMS CLASH SATURDAY:
Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan, the top two teams
in the West Division, meet for the second time this season on
Saturday in Ypsilanti. The Eagles defeated the Falcons 51-
48 in Bowling Green on Jan. 12. BGSU (9-2) has a one-
game lead over EMU (8-3) in the standings. Before the two
teams meet, Bowling Green hosts Central Michigan on Tues-
day, while Eastern Michigan plays at Miami Wednesday.
•A LOOK AT THE TOURNEY AND SEEDING:
With two and a half weeks left in the regular season there
is still plenty of jockeying that can be done among the 13
teams. The top three teams get first round byes, while the
four through the eight seeds secure home games for the first
round campus site games on Saturday, March 5.

•WHO’S LEFT ON THE SCHEDULE:
Kent State has the easiest schedule left to play, with the
Golden Flashes’ opponents having a combined 21-34 record
(.382). Ball State is next in line at 18-27 (.400), followed by
Ohio at 25-32 (.439) . Toledo has the toughest remaining
schedule at 34-22 (.607), while Eastern Michigan has the
second-toughest schedule at 33-22 (.600).
•MARSHALL CONTINUES STREAK:
Marshall has won 10 overall games and nine straight
league contests following wins last week over Ohio and Ball
State. It’s the longest win streak for the school since win-
ning 20 games in the 1971-72 season. The Thundering Herd’s
nine MAC wins are the most since the school joined the con-
ference, while the team’s league win streak is the longest
since Miami won 12 conference games in a row last season.
•UPCOMING MAC TV GAME:
Toledo hosts Kent State at Noon EST on Saturday (Feb.
19) in this week’s MAC women’s basketball television game.
Calling the action will be Jeff Friedman (play by play) and
Debbie Leonard (color analyst). The game can be seen live
on Fox Sports Net Ohio and Comcast Local (Michigan).

•SHEPARD-HALL DROPS IN 30:
Marshall’s Sikeetha Shepard-Hall scored a career-high
30 points in the Thundering Herd’s win at Ohio Feb. 9. It
was the first 30-point game by a Marshall player since Kristina
Behnfeldt scored 31 against Central Michigan in 1999.
•ENDRESS CONTINUES TO CLIMB MAC LADDER:
Ball State’s Kate Endress last week became the 16th player
in MAC history to score 1,700 points. The senior forward,
who also has 639 rebounds, enters the week in 15th place in
MAC history with 1,720 points and is only 16 points from

Miami’s Nicki Motto claims her second MAC East Division
Player of the Week of the season after helping the RedHawks
post back-to-back wins for the first time since early January.
In wins over Akron and Northern Illinois, Motto averaged
15.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
Motto, who shot 50 percent from the field and connected on
eight three-pointers, opened the week with 12 points, three
rebounds and a pair of steals in a win over the Zips. The
senior capped off the week with a team-high 19 points ver-
sus the Huskies, with 15 of them coming on three-pointers.
East Division Player of the Week

Capturing her second MAC West Division Player of the Week
honor is Bowling Green’s Ali Mann, who shares the honor
with Eastern Michigan’s Ryan Coleman. The sophomore
forward helped the Falcons to a pair of road wins over Ball
State and Akron by averaging 15.5 points and 8.5 rebounds
per game. Mann had 14 points and nine caroms in a win
over the Cardinals, then scored 15 of her 17 points against
the Zips in the second half. She also added eight rebounds.

Garnering her fifth award this season and second honor in as
many weeks is Eastern Michigan’s Ryan Coleman. In wins
over Buffalo and Western Michigan, Coleman averaged 16.5
points, 7.0 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. The
senior guard recorded only the second triple-double in school
history against the Broncos with 21 points, 10 rebounds and
10 assists.

MAC Players of the Week
12th place. She is one of only thee players in school history
-- male or female -- to have scored 1,700 points and grabbed
600 or more rebounds. Endress joins Bonzi Wells (2,485
pts./ 843 reb.) of the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies and two-time
MAC Player of the Year Tamara Bowie (2,091 pts./933 reb.).
•MIAMI STRONG IN THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY:
Since entering the month of February on a five-game los-
ing streak, the Miami RedHawks have won three of their last
four games. Under Maria Fantanarosa, the RedHawks have
never had a losing record in the month, posting an impres-
sive 36-13 (.735) record. Miami is 17-1 in its last 18 games
in the month of February.
•COLEMAN NETS TRIPLE-DOUBLE:
Eastern Michigan’s Ryan Coleman registered the school’s
second triple double on Saturday against Western Michigan.
The senior scored 21 points and added 10 rebounds and 10
assists in the win over the Broncos. She joined Stephanie
Smiley as the only two players in EMU history to produce a
triple double. Smiley had 11 points, 14 rebounds and 12 as-
sists against Ohio on Jan. 26, 2000.
•KSU’S DEGRATE LOVES THE SECOND HALF:
Kent State’s Melissa DeGrate has scored 250 points over
her last 14 games (17.8 ppg), with 175 of those points -- or
70 percent -- coming after halftime. Most recently, DeGrate
scored 17 of her 24 points in the second half against Eastern
Michigan on Jan. 29, and last Wednesday (Feb. 9) versus
Northern Illinois she tallied 15 of her game-high 20 points
after halftime.
•HALFTIME LEADS ARE BAD OMEN FOR NIU:
Northern Illinois is a 2-7 in MAC play this season when
leading at halftime. The Huskies are actually outscoring their
opponents 302-289 during the first 20 minutes of league con-
tests only to be outscored themselves 416-313 after the break.
•PAIR GO OVER 1,000 CAREER POINT MARK:
Toledo senior Karin Hoogendam tallied 12 points, 11 re-
bounds and three blocked shots vs. Ohio on Saturday, Feb.
12. It was her seventh double-double of the season and 12th
in the career. In the process, Hoogendam became the 19th
player in UT history to reach 1,000 career points. Miami’s
Cindi Merrill became the 17th member of the school’s 1,000
point club on Feb. 9 against Akron. Merrill is only the fifth
player in school history to accomplish the feat as a junior.
•UB’S TURNER HOT IN THE LAST FIVE:
Freshman Heather Turner has shot 66.7 from the floor
(28-for-42) in the last five games to up her Buffalo and con-
ference-leading field goal percentage to 58.4 on the season
(101-for-173). Turner is on pace to break UB’s single-sea-
son field goal percentage record, currently held by Heidi
Steckstor who shot 53.9 percent (188-for-349) in 28 games
during the 1989-90 season.
•STREAK ENDS FOR BOWLING GREEN:
Bowling Green saw a lengthy streak come to an end in
the Akron game this past Saturday. The Falcons had made at
least one three-pointer in 193 consecutive games, but went
0-for-13 against the Zips. The last time BGSU won a game
without making a trey was in 1996 against Detroit. Prior to
the 193-game streak, the school record had been 29 games.
•EHLEN WINS 200TH GAME AT TOLEDO:
Mark Ehlen picked up his 200th win at Toledo on Feb. 8,
a 65-51 win over Central Michigan. Ehlen joins Kent State’s
Bob Lindsay (301 wins) as the only coaches in league his-
tory to win 200 games as a MAC head coach.
•CHIPPEWAS GET FIRST WIN AGAINST UB:
Casey Manning was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field and
5-for-5 from the free throw line for a game-high 17 points in
the Chippewas win over Buffalo Saturday. Sharonda Hurd
came off the bench to pull down a game-high 12 rebounds.
The win was CMU’s first in six meetings with the Bulls.
